The joy of motorcycle and roadtrips

Last Saturday and the Saturday the week before, me and Olof went on roadtrips. First time was to Killarney and some other place south of Killarney, it was very nice and sometimes very nice weather with sun. Sometimes it was raining, which of course wasn't very nice... We stopped for dinner at a small pub in a small town (or rather a village). Both of us were wet and cold and suddenly it was very tempting to spend the night at a B&B, although we decided to go home anyway. I dried my trousers in bathroom and my mittens at the pub, where I found a hand drier. Perfect timing!

This Saturday we went to Limerick. I had requested a shopping trip, and I got that. We went to Crescent Link just outside Limerick and spent time at H&M, Next, Penneys and loads of other store. I bought some t-shirts, shoes and a bedlinen set. It was fun and Olof received a bunch of boyfriend-points for taking me there and actually have patience enough.

Motorcycle is fun, I'm getting more and more used to it. I think and hope it will happen again, especially since it is "Maria and Olof discovering Ireland, part one and two of many." (Internal joke mostly, but you can be a part of it anyway.)

Wide awake

Our neighbours dropped by on saturday to invite us to a party. A party on sunday evening. Around eleven or twelve. I said thanks, and that it was really nice of them, but we were all working monday so probably not. They said it would just be a small get-together. I believed them. I thought that of course they would keep the volume down, knowing that we and probably everyone else within earshot would be working monday.

Sweet lord of cookies. It was insane. It just went on and on and on and when you started seriously considering human offerings just to make them at least stop playing metal they switched to techno. Not the good kind either. And they had base. Good god, they had base. And they had fights outside our window, in the street, scaring Johan who sleeps on the ground floor shitless. Throwing bottles and screaming in french. Bad, bad words. And they were shouting on the backside, and they made sounds that made me think that they where tearing down the wall between the houses. There was singing. They all sang. All of them. In french. Loud french. Continiuosly, for about an hour, without pause. Eventually the "song" descended into just a sound, like a choir of demons, no melody, no words. They clapped every now and then. And they just kept screaming. It was inhuman. Inhuman.

They kept it up untill seven in the morning. Then, as we gave up and said fine, you won, you spawn of evil - then they just stopped. Silence. We went to work, the entire swedish line, sleep deprived to madness. Bad, bad monday.

Everyday life

Or not.

A lot has been going on, I've been in a kinda shitty mood, mostly due to stress over how much is going on. I've also been very happy to see two really close friends arrive to stay.

Mom and Robin has been here, which was great, but now I just feel like everything that has happened in the latest few weeks has punched me in the gut and I wish that I could skip town for a couple of days.

Last night revived my spirits a bit, me, Maria and Johan had a swedish date with swedish meatballs (tofu for Johan), potatoes, brown sauce (the swedish kind) and lingonsylt. Then Viola came home and we ate cake of doom and had a glass of wine while watching Buffy and Angel.

Sometimes it is Hard to Let Go

I have just set up a wireless router. There were blood, sweat, tears and loads of cursing but after an hour of hard work I finally got to jump up on the desk to do my little victory dance - I defeated the router! Mwahahaha! *crazy laughter*

Some people might think that I have a bit of a problem letting go of work. Those people are completely right.

The joy of the last week

It's lovely to hear about Sara's adventures in Sweden, especially since they include my hometown aswell. The description as "The place that God forgot" is a pretty good description sometimes, even if it happens that I like Luleå every now and then (but don't tell anyone!).

Anyway, what is happening in Cork? Not that much, except that it's happening alot. Last Sunday Johan came from Sweden, on Monday it was Kristina's mum and their friend Robin who arrived and on Saturday Viola came to Cork. Kristina's mum and Robin left yesterday. Our house has been quite full, and since Viola stole my bed I spent Saturday night at Olof's for the first time. But it has been a quite quiet weekend for me, hardly no alcohol at all.

On Valborg we had a BBQ and after that we went to Tom Barry's. It was a nice evening which ended with taco fries (everything ending with taco fries is good).

A Holiday Worthy of a Squirrel

Since none of the girls are blogging about their adventures in Cork I guess I'll have to fill up the space with my rambling about Sweden.

Spending Valborg in Uppsala was great and well worth all the trouble I had getting there (from now on Airport bitches and SJ are the new objects of my undying hatred). I met up with Jojo and Jens II early in the morning, ate breakfast with some catholic people and watched the students get wet as they conquered the river on homemade, quite unstable, rafts. And no Valborg would be Valborg without obscene amounts of alcohol, so the first can was opened at 9 am and the last drop was drunk at about 2 am. Considering the fact that my preparation for this holiday included no food, no sleep and (of course) a bug I am a bit impressed that I actually lived to see the 1st of May. Anyway, the rest of the day we lay on a blanket in the sun and enjoyed the mood, the Smirnoff Ice and life in general. We also made an attempt to do some barbeque and hanged out with loads of people that I knew way back when...

The 1st Jojo and I mostly spent on a blanket by the river and soaked up the sunlight - too bad that I am a redheaded, pale person with freckles and nowadays a bright red nose. Note to self: always use sunscreen.

Since I had to leave Jojo at the train station way to soon I spent the rest of my time in Uppsala with Jens. Friday was a day filled with Final Fantasy VIII and in the evening it was time to go to the train station myself for a 13 hour trip to Luleå.

Now I've been here for not more than 1,5 days but I have already got 4 mosquito bites. I have also been used as a household slave and therefore spent the day sewing, ironing, baking, cooking and cleaning (anybody who knows me knows that that's just wrong). Right now the only good thing about this place that God forgot is that I have been signed up as a puppy nanny to a 12 weeks old Schnauzer girl that mom and I will pick up on Tuesday. That is a quite good reason to stay positive (:

Over and out from Sweden!
